that has a history reaching back to 1889 when it was billed as a suburb.
The area is popular with for its easy access to downtown
Portland as well many of the surrounding neighborhoods. There is also convenient access to a number of different stores
and although there is little in the way of amenities, it is just a short
distance out of the neighborhood for just about every amenity you could possibly
think of.
There are pet stores in all four directions that are no more than a
few minutes away, grooming shops, and even your pick of dog parks within minutes
of the area.
Overall, the Portland climate is very mild with warm summers and rainy
winters but the area has been known to get the odd ice or snow storm. Other than these rare events, heavy rainstorms and hot
summer days will be your biggest challenges.
What is the terrain like in Piedmont?
Piedmont is primarily flat until you encounter the northern boundaries.
Even then, the hills are fairly minor and can be easily avoided if you are not
interested in anything more than a comfortable stroll. The rest of Piedmont is flat and, with sidewalks and grass shoulders, makes for a pleasant walk around the
neighborhood.
The neighborhood is fairly
large, so if you want to make a long walk out of it to get some exercise, you
have a lot of room to roam. The area is primarily residential and there are

There are two parks in Piedmont that might make suitable detours if you happen to be in the area. Farragut Park is 14 acres and has grass, paths, and lots of trees for your pup to explore. If you happen to bring your two-legged child with you, there is also a playground for them to enjoy.
Peninsula Park Rose Garden is further south in Piedmont towards the center of the neighborhood and has some beautifully wooded areas as well as paths to go wandering on. There are also several dog parks in the area and, while they are not actually in Piedmont, it is worth the drive if you want to give your pup a chance to run.
To the west is the Dog Bowl in Overlook, to the east is the Fernhill Park Dog Off-Leash Area and the Wilshire Park Off-Leash Area, and to the south in Boise is two more dog parks to choose from.
